Wednesday, 28 April 2010
Harriet Thorpe, a regular in the West End, has been added to the Mamma Mia! cast and will perform in the ABBA musical from June 14th.
She will play Tanya at the Prince of Wales Theatre in the production, adding the role to a CV that includes roles in Cabaret and Les Miserables.
Thorpe will also be a recognisable face to viewers of television programmes such as Absolutely Fabulous and The Brittas Empire.
Mamma Mia! is one of the most popular shows in the West End at the moment, benefiting from the success of the film starring Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Meryl Streep.
Having celebrated its 11th birthday recently, the show is booking through until next March and stars names such as Paul Ryan, Linzi Hateley, Jessie May and Christopher Hollis.
Featuring the music of Swedish group ABBA, it tells the story of Donna, a former singer whose past catches up with her when her daughter invites three men who could be her real father to give her away at her wedding.
