New West End musical Hair has already received a glowing five-star review, despite only officially opening at the Gielgud Theatre last night (April 14th 2010).
Charles Spencer of the Telegraph called it "a timely and irresistibly vital revival" which amounted to theatrical bliss for him, a former hippy.
He praised the cast, commenting that everyone in it shines with verve and energy, particularly when they venture into the audience.
Mr Spencer also highlighted the "genuinely thrilling" choreography as being something which is sure to excite London theatre fans.
Commenting that the musical communicates a moving lament on how impossible it is to reproduce heaven on earth, the critic gave it five stars and said: "This is surely a musical whose time has come again."
According to the Daily Mail, The Saturdays, Anneka Rice, Graham Norton and Elaine Paige were among the celebrity faces in the audience for Hair's opening last night.
