Wednesday, 31 March 2010
The producers of the hit musical Billy Elliot are to host a reunion of cast members past and present tonight (March 31st 2010) in order to mark the show's fifth anniversary in the West End.
According to the Guardian, 19 of the 22 young actors who have played Billy in the past will take to the stage of the Victoria Palace Theatre in order to celebrate the milestone with a special sing-song.
Director Stephen Daldry, who is organising the event along with writer Lee Hall and composer Elton John, said it is sure to be a moving experience for themselves, the actors and the audience.
"We're doing it to get back as many of the kids who performed in London as we can. I suppose you'd call the finale we're planning a Billy megamix," he added.
Billy Elliot the Musical has proved to be a massive crowd-puller since it first arrived in 2005. It was also ranked as one of the most significant achievements of the noughties by the Times in October last year.
