A schoolboy from Cheshire is looking forward to making his theatrical debut in the West End smash Billy Elliot.
Joe Massey, ten, was recently chosen out of hundreds of hopefuls to play Michael - Billy's best friend in the story - and travelled to London to begin rehearsals last week, the Chester Chronicle reports.
He is due to take on the role officially at the beginning of April.
Jessica Ronane, children's casting director for Billy Elliot, said Joe is doing well so far.
"Michael is a really difficult role to cast but Joe seems to be natural at making people laugh, he has a natural comedic ability and he is very watchable," she commented.
Billy Elliot is one of the West End's classic shows and has received many accolades since it opened in 2005.
Among these are a record ten Tony Awards, which the cast and producers were presented with in June last year.
