Thursday, 18 February 2010
One of the young stars of Thriller - Live has been wowing the critics with his performances as the young Michael Jackson at the Lyric Theatre.
The production's run recently passed the 12-month mark and was given a makeover to celebrate the occasion, with a host of new songs added to the show based on the career of Michael Jackson.
Reviewers invited to see the new look Thriller - Live were impressed by the party atmosphere the songs and the slickly choreographed dance routines created.
One cast member earned particular praise - Mitchell Zhangazha, who portrayed the King of Pop in his teenage years.
Catherine Usher of the Stage said: "He looks the part, but the most amazing element is how much he sounds like early Jacko. Seeing him sing and dance along to I Want You Back is probably as close as you can get to time travel."
The Camden New Journal's reviewer Charlotte Chambers noted that the youngster received the warmest reception from the audience, but also had praise for one of the actors playing the adult Michael Jackson in Thriller - Live.
Haydon Eshun showed he still has the voice that helped him to achieve fame during his childhood as part of Simon Cowell's boyband Ultimate Kaos, she explained.
